2023 NVC Presenter Page

Congratulations on being selected as a presenter at the Velg Training 2023 National VET Conference! 

We hope that this simple page helps by providing information relating to the lead up to the event.

PPT Template

We have created a 2023 NVC PPT template (Coming soon) that you can use when developing your presentation. It is not compulsory to use this template and you can choose to have your own branding for your slides.  

However, in these instances, we will 'top and tail' your presentation with our branded holding slides. You can include your contact details on one slide inside the presentation (we recommend the final slide) and we encourage you to highlight these at the end of your session and encourage delegates to contact you!

Theme

Vocational Education and Training has certainly faced some long-term, persistent challenges. However, it has emerged this side of the pandemic with a momentum and vitality that are exemplary.

We work in an industry that will always need to be nimble and responsive. This will certainly be the case in the coming 12-24 months and it is clear that there really is nothing permanent... except change.

As a sector, we will continue to improve business processes, get students more involved, maintain compliance, and keep designing and investing in high-quality education and training solutions that will help skill and up-skill Australia for the future. These solutions, the VET sector, we, will be responsible for literally Training the Nation: Transforming Lives

Historically, over 1200 attendees are attracted to this annual event. A wide range of delegates will attend the National VET Conference, essentially representing  two client groups:

Content Categories

In 2023, Velg Training wants to provide a program that is responsive to feedback received. 

As a direct output of the completed surveys from our past events, all submissions for 2023 will sit under at least one of our dedicated Content Categories

Presentation Requirements

Presentations due: Friday 14 July 2023 - Our preferred presentation medium is PowerPoint. 

Whilst we appreciate Prezi and Keynote are sometimes a presenter's preferred option, the need to bring your own laptop to enable this, and arranging for associated access to the presentations via web-based login and password has been an issue in the past on the day with the venue. Please note the specific requirements below for these two presentation platforms.

Velg Training PPT Template (Coming Soon) (This is our preferred option!)

  • Velg Training will have a 2023 NVC PPT template that you are able to use if you like, however you can absolutely choose to have your own branding for your slides! In these instances, we simply 'top and tail' your presentation with holding slides.
  • 16:9 Aspect Ratio is required as widescreen projectors are used at the venue – if you need assistance with setting this up please contact us!
Prezi/Keynote
  • Please provide a hyperlink (Prezi)/PDF (Keynote) to/of your presentation for the QA process when you submit your content - this will mean that you also need to submit some notes for the QA officer that will identify how the content of your presentation aligns with the advertised overview
  • You MUST advise Velg Training as soon as possible if you are using this medium and how you propose to allow the venue access to your presentation
  • You will be required to provide the 'final approved' version in PDF format to be disseminated to attendees as a post-event resource
  • You will be required to agree to commit to not making any further editorial changes to your content once the content has been proofed and finalised

The QA Process

Velg Training will QA your presentation once received.   This process has been designed to help ensure that the quality of the presentations at the event is of the highest standard.  It is critical to ensure:
  • there are no minor grammatical, formatting or spelling errors in your presentation 
  • that your content (stand-alone/without your verbal delivery) clearly aligns with and delivers on, the approved overview
  • that your information is appropriately cited/referenced
  • that your content accurately reflects the Standards/Legislation, where used
Based on our experience over the past 15 National VET Conferences, your session feedback will be brutal if your presentation:
  • does not 'meet the brief'. I.e. if your session overview says participants will walk away with hints and tips (and your presentation does not include those hints and tips)
  • includes continual self-promotional/sales references
  • is 'death by PowerPoint'  I.e. you have so many words on the screen that participants find it difficult to see/engage

Presentation Equipment you will be provided on the day

Rooms will be equipped with:
  • Screen and data projector (widescreen)
  • Lectern computer with internet access (note that presenters are unable to use their own laptops – presentations are delivered through the Convention Centre equipment)
  • Clicker/pointer (to advance slides)
  • Microphones – lectern or lapel
If you require any other form of presentation equipment you MUST advise Velg Training prior to your schedule, presentation recording date.

Presenters may be required to meet any expenses incurred by using technology that is in addition to the standard equipment provided.

Printed Handouts

Velg Training will arrange for photocopying for handouts less than 10 pages (5 pages back to back and stapled, printed black and white) for a standard session. Presenters are required to meet the costs of anything outside these parameters.

Accommodation

Velg Training will provide one night of accommodation, the night prior to delivery of your presentation if required.  A third party provider will be providing all accommodation for us again in 2023 through a specialised portal.

Your accommodation will (by default) be coordinated for you by Velg Training. You will be contacted by Velg Training as we get closer to the event to confirm the accommodation that Velg Training will pay for (and any additional nights you may wish to have booked, but will be paid for by you).

Please note that Presenter Flights are not coordinated or paid for by Velg Training.

More information

All Presenters of the National VET Conference receive a complimentary 2-day ticket to the event and entry into the Welcome Function on the Thursday night.

Velg Training has conducted a Presenter Webinar in 2023 to help answer any questions you have and to provide information about what will happen prior, during and post event.  

We highly recommend you watch that recording so that you are fully informed of the procedures in the lead up to and during, the event. (Scroll down to see embedded video)

Ticket Options

Based on Delegate feedback, we are pleased to announce that the #2023NVC has two options when it comes to accessing the largest PD opportunity for VET in the country.

Face-to-face ticket – Delegates  join us in person at the Gold Coast!

  • Any Presenter unable to present in-person will be Zoomed in live on the day *

Recordings only – Delegates can catch up on the content post event!

  • All sessions from the conference will be filmed live and the recordings will be sent to delegates post event,
    with access to those recordings granted for 30 days *

*All registered delegates regardless of their ticket type will receive post event access to the filmed recordings from every session across the 2 days

Presenter technical requirements

  • If you are unable to present in person, we will be coordinating a zoom session which will be streamed live into the venue.  This means you will be required to have access to a camera and microphone at your end, and an appropriate bandwidth for internet connection (to reduce the chance of the session 'dropping out'.
  • The venue will coordinate a test session to ensure there are no technical concerns.
