The Standards for RTOs 2015 require RTOs to systematically monitor their training and assessment strategies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance with Standard 1. This Training Product Review Template guides the RTO through this review process.

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025. 

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This template is based on, and refers to, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.

The purpose of conducting a training product review is to assess the RTO’s compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2015 with particular focus on the training product, primarily with Standard 1.  The training product review is an integral part of the RTO’s commitment to continual improvement.  These reviews should be systematic and recommended to be conducted on an annual basis.  The summary of findings and rectifications identified should then feed in to the systematic internal audit process that is completed against all standards.

To assist with this process, Velg Training has developed a Training Product Review template to guide RTOs through the process of reviewing a training product and associated documentation.

The Training Product Review template is a Microsoft Word document that contains 32 (expandable) pages of information and includes an extensive range of guiding questions for consideration when undertaking a Training Product Review against the Standards for RTOs 2015.

The template provides space for a summary of the outcomes of the Review, enabling the CEO quick reference to examine the overall outcome and provide comment.

The completed report can be printed as a hard copy or stored and distributed within your organisation electronically.  The document has utilised the form fill functions of Microsoft Word 2010/2013/2016 to allow for easy use of check boxes and text fields.  There is no password protection on this template and your RTO can adapt the template to include logos, watermarks and other corporate branding.
