Version
VT1.0

Recorded on the 20/11/21 this webinar was specifically designed to increase knowledge and practice of observation assessment. Observation is a powerful method of gathering direct evidence, but it does have its problems.

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This webinar recording refers to, and is based on, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.

Topic

Observation is a powerful method of gathering direct evidence, but it does have its problems. As an Assessor, you can observe people and products, but you can’t observe thinking or attitudes. You can only make inferences about them, and inferences are not reliable sources of evidence.

However, you can observe behaviour!

Well-developed assessment instruments are critical to ensuring that the evidence gathered is valid and reliable.  So, what do we need to look for in a well-developed observation assessment tool?

John Dwyer took participants deep into all things Observation. This session explored observation as an evidence-gathering technique, its different forms, strengths and weaknesses, associated compliance issues as well as observations in the workplace during COVID-19 restrictions.

This PD was specifically designed to increase knowledge and practice of observation assessment.
