The training provided at Jeebropilly Mine is providing team members the opportunity to grow and develop in their area of specialisation. Jeebropilly Site Senior Executive Trent Knack said New Hope Group was committed to training and developing their employees.
“We’re really proud of the work we’ve done upskilling our workforce and we firmly believe in investing in our people by helping them to build a strong, professional skillset,” Mr Knack said.
“Jeebropilly Mine has two major training programs, the behavioural training program and the safety leadership program.
“Combining these two programs ensures that safety is always front of mind and productivity performance is boosted across the mine site.”
Jeebropilly Health, Safety and Training Coordinator Brendan Ryan said the mine’s aim is to return employees to their loved ones unharmed at the end of each shift.
“Our people are one of our greatest assets,” Mr Ryan said. “Because, on a day-to-day basis, it is our people who influence our success.
“Health and safety is and will remain paramount to everything we do.”
Mr Ryan also said training played a vital role in preparing employees for life after they move on from Jeebropilly.
“We encourage all employees to take advantage of training that will further their prospects,” he said.
“The training we offer our employees is designed to keep them safe and compliant at the mine site but the skills can be used across all aspects of their lives.
“These transferrable skills will allow our employees to move into workplaces outside the resources sector.
“Safety focused skills in heavy machinery maintenance, fork lift operation, first aid and firefighting, risk management and general communication will give our workers the edge in the future.
“The mining operation at Jeebropilly is winding down after many years and the confidence our employees gain from the training we offer on site will stand them in good stead for future employment opportunities.
“It is important to us that our employees and their families have a secure future after they have finished working at Jeebropilly,” he said.
New Hope Group’s Jeebropilly Mine was a finalist in the 2017 Queensland Training Awards in the Medium Employer of the Year category.
