That’s right – in only two months’ time VET practitioners from around Australia will have the opportunity to hear from a range of speakers at the 2017 National VET Conference. Focused on delivering to this year’s theme of ‘Building Quality in VET’, the following presenters are proud to be showcased this week:
Mark Hodgson
Mark Hodgson comes from a successful corporate background and has held senior leadership roles in Australasia, UK, Europe and Russia. With a powerful track record backed by a depth of learning across multiple disciplines, Mark has inspired teams across a range of commercial and not-for-profit businesses. He is the leader of About My Brain Institute, which puts neuroscience at the heart of personal leadership development, a faculty member for the Thought Leaders Business School, and holds an MBA-level qualification from the AGSM. He also created the Blog or Die! content creation program and is author of the acclaimed business blog, Pinch of Thought. His book ‘Time to Shine: Adapting who you are and what you know to succeed in the ideas economy’ expands on this thinking.
Laurie Kelly
Laurie Kelly is the director of Mindworks and speaks nationally and internationally on current knowledge of how the mind works, to maximise the impact of training and create an openness factor in approaches to change and learning. For over 30 years, Laurie has presented to audiences on opening the mysteries of the mind, and has built a reputation for his ability to communicate on a level suited to everyone. His experience includes conference sessions and training programs delivered nationally and internationally. With a passion for the information he shares, Laurie has worked extensively with the corporate sector across many areas and is one of the most sought-after presenters in his field.
Geoff Oliver
Geoff Oliver has over 40 years’ experience in the Film & TV Industry and over 16 years’ in training and the VET sector. Since 1987, he has operated production companies in Australia and Singapore, and filmed throughout Australia, Southeast Asia and around the world. He helped develop Certificate III through to Advanced Diploma courses in Film & TV in Perth and has assisted the development of other accredited courses. He is also a member of the board for Montessori World Educational Institute and is a qualified lead auditor who provides audit and consulting services to RTOs. Geoff combines his experience in film & TV with his current roles to provide a practical and fresh approach to RTO operations.
Dave Tout
Dave Tout is an experienced Foundation Skills educator who specialises in numeracy and mathematics education for adults and youth. He is well known for his hands-on practical workshops and has worked with schools, TAFEs, Universities, community providers, AMES and industry. He has written and presented on a wide range of topics, and was one of the writers of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Over the past 18 years, Dave has been involved in developing and implementing numeracy components of assessments including ALLS, PIAAC and PISA. Since joining ACER in 2008, he has worked on a range of projects for young people and adults and has undertaken research, assessment and training related projects. Prior to this, he was the Manager, Education Quality and Compliance at the Centre for Adult Education (CAE) in Melbourne.
