NVC Master Class: Troubleshooting the TAS

12 September 2018
Adelaide Convention Centre, Gilbert Suite

2018NVC Master Class

The Training and Assessment Strategy is required by Clauses 1.1-1.4 of the Standards for RTOs 2015. This document must sufficiently describe a framework to guide trainers and assessors in implementing the training product in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the training package or VET accredited course. It must also enable the learner to meet the requirements of their enrolment and be responsive to learner and industry needs.

This Master Class will “Troubleshoot the TAS” by exploring the common non-compliances, along with providing suggestions for evidence and corrections. Participants should bring one of their RTO’s training and assessment strategies to work with.

Key topics covered in the Master Class

Examination of how a strategy:

  • acts as a framework and a living document that is consistent with, and provides sufficient guidance for a trainer/assessor to implement, the training product;
  • describes the characteristics of the learner group and how their characteristics influence the development/review of the strategy;
  • identifies an amount of training that includes a rationale developed from the characteristics of the learner group and delivery/implementation contexts and explains any significant variations from the volume of learning;
  • illustrates scheduling, sequence and mode of delivery along with appropriate assessment methodology and resources;
  • identifies any third party, other resource access arrangements or vocational placement/work placement;
  • outlines any specific trainer/assessor qualifications or skills as required by the training product/package/course;
