The mapping matrix for a unit of competency is the key document crucial to compliant assessment. A review of a mapping matrix can lead to enormous improvements in an assessment tool and therefore, importantly, in the knowledge and skills being demonstrated by learners.
This session will take a deep dive into mapping, considering the key features of ‘good’ mapping practices and highlighting some common issues and non-compliances.
There will be consideration of different approaches to mapping, with practical examples provided of important and often-missed aspects of unit criteria that lead to poor mapping practices.
Examples of mapping for a range of units will be shown, offering participants the opportunity to evaluate different approaches, identify areas of concern and develop an understanding of best practice.
Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own mapping practices, offering the opportunity post-session to analyse for themselves potential areas for improvement when it comes to their assessment mapping matrices.
