NVPDW: Reasonable Adjustment: What is Reasonable, What is Not?

This webinar that forms part of our 2024 National VET PD Week is presented by Coleen Rivas (who achieved an average score of 4.1/5 stars at the #2023NVC).  She aims to provide RTOs and assessors with clarity about what types of adjustments are reasonable, and what are not.

Overview

RTOs are obligated to provide reasonable adjustments under the legislation.The Standards for Registered Training Organisations also include requirements to provide support services to individual learners and ensure assessment is fair by providing reasonable adjustment where appropriate.This session aims to provide RTOs and assessors with clarity about what types of adjustments are reasonable, and what are not.

The session will explore the following topics:

  • RTO obligations around reasonable adjustment (what is considered reasonable or unjustifiable in terms of costs)
  • Determining learner needs and program suitability prior to enrolment.
  • What if the program is not suitable? What if the learner wants to enrol anyway?
  • Types and examples of reasonable adjustments to support learners
  • Reasonable adjustment and assessment - What is reasonable, what is not?
